Halloween Transformation

We are all accustomed to donning costumes for Halloween.  In fact, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays!  It's pure fun and silliness and filled with sweetness.  There are few obligations and little stress associated with Halloween.
What if you use Halloween as a jump-start to a new you?  What costume would you virtually put on to represent the YOU you know you can be?

Would you be swimming in cash and the Captain of your own yacht?  Are you on a book signing tour with fans out the door?  Are you walking down the aisle with your fun, caring, gorgeous mate?

Think about who you want BE for Halloween.  Step into being that person now. No costume required.  Imagination will help get you there.

Benevolent Thanksgiving

I don't preach about plant based eating, but I certainly encourage it to those that are open to transitioning from omnivore to herbivore.

Are you open to having a Benevolent Thanksgiving?  Since choosing to live an all-plant-based lifestyle, I've felt a great sense of peace and calm around me.  I partially attribute this to not ingesting the angst and fear of slaughtered farm animals.
Do you want to experiment with a benevolent Thanksgiving? Not only will a turkey thank you - but YOU will feel a difference in your body and energy that you will love.

Things are Not as They Appear

Reminder of  an Ink-Jet Explosion!

Recently, our old inkjet printer decide to explode ink all over our new pine filing cabinet.  This brought an unexpected turn of events to the day.
There was lots of black gooey clean up to be tackled, and then the research to learn about removing the stains.  Ultimately, it was a baking-soda and water scrub that removed a large portion of the ink.
The lesson occurred when I tried to select our alternate printer, the one we use for printing photos, as our go-to printer.  I could not get the computer to recognize the printer, nor could my family members. I was baffled how unplugging and discarding one printer, could cause the other to malfunction.  The longer I stayed in this place, the more frustrated I became.  I called Canon to get some help, but they were closed on the weekend.
Then, my son suggested that maybe when we upgraded the wi-fi, we never set up the Canon printer on the new wi-fi.  I thought that was a great idea, but was doubtful because we had updated the wi-fi some time ago.
However, as I muddled my way through the Canon printer functions, I selected the option to pair with the computers via wi-fi, and the printer connected and is working fine!
The moral of this (sorry) long story is, things do are not as they appear to be.  What looks like reality, the problem, the struggle, may simply require a new look from a different point of view. Since the ink exploded on my new furniture, I have been reminded many times to shift my point of view, away from what IS to what may be possible..  I have a lovely stain to remind me.

Are you a Conscious Parent?

Start now, and put your awareness where your mouth is. Have you said something you regret today? Have you imagined a worst-case scenario?  It's time to bring your awareness to your thoughts and feelings and choose to become conscious.  You can do it!  You will notice that if you act from the awareness of how you want to feel, that your relationships will flourish and your day will unfold with a sense of ease.

New Dirty Dozen

Are you familiar with the Environmental Working Group?  They offer great information on food safety and earth kindness.  I keep their list of the Dirty Dozen and Clean 15 foods with me, in my purse, and have the app on my smart-phone.  Today the EWG just announced a list of endocrine disruptors.   Some of the best steps you can take to avoid these elements in your life are simple.  Switch to natural cleansers.  I either use cleansers from Tropical Traditions which are all plant based and earth and human friendly, or something simple like vinegar and water, or 1/2 a lemon to scrub out the sink.
You can do this, and you will impact the planet and your body in a such a life-giving way!

Keep it Smooth

Despite the change to cooler weather in the North East, I'm still enjoying my cool-green-smoothies.  We have collard greens still coming up in the garden.  I grabbed several leaves last evening and rinsed them off.  This morning, I simply tore them up and put them in my blender cup.  I added a small banana, a bunch of frozen organic blueberries, chia seeds, flax seeds, and  spoonful of raw Manuka honey- oh, and H2O.

Creative Plant Based Living

I had such a fun day today, making new fat-free-vegan recipes with my daughter.  This is the Vegan Sausage we made, from Isa Chandra Moskowitz's recipe.  I love her cookbook, Appetite for Reduction, and she has so much to offer at her website.

Authentic Veg-Sausages!
These sausages made a nice addition to to the lentils, rice and beans that my husband had for lunch.  We went light on the fennel, but will use more next time.  While I don't miss the texture of meat at all, this was fun to make with my daughter and makes a nice addition to many dishes.  Let me know if you try it!

Taking a Breath

I just needed a moment to re-group during a stress-filled Friday morning.  As I breathe, I see my clock reads 11:11.  Ah....We All Are One!

Whenever you see your clock read 1:11 or 11:11, take a moment and fill it with gratitude for the oneness of nature and human  nature.

Protecting Our Children in a Wireless World

I won't stay in fear, that our world is filled with electromagnetic fields that disturb our bodies' ability to function. It appears that modern technology is  re-wiring our children in ways that impact their personalities and their health.

Pure Potential

I choose to imagine that the human body is evolving at the same rate as technology.  What once would have been toxic to us as humans, we can now live with in alignment.

Will you join me in this vision, that all is well.  That humans have created advanced technology in perfect time, in perfect order, for our human race to embrace it wholly and healthfully?

"Try"

When I checked in with a friend to see if she was affirming her self-love in the mirror on a daily basis, she said she was, "trying."
What happens when you try?  Often times, you succeed, but plenty of other times, you give up!  I try to do my pushups on my feet, but often drop to my knees.  What do you try to do?

When you have a goal, a vision, a plan and you have a commitment, you succeed!  To me, the word try leaves too much space for me to quit.

Use the word intend and visualize your outcome before you begin.  It truly is magical.

Choosing Awareness

Do you know what you want to come your way today?
Having clarity on what you want to experience and achieve is critical to actually manifesting the results you want.
A day at the beach...
I have been so grateful to see my "to do" list checked-off with very little effort.  It seems magical, but if you remain clear and focused on what you want, and you keep resistance out of the picture, you will find that what you want comes to you effortlessly.  This is the magic that occurs in lining your energy up with universal energy.

I love to cook!

Well, I love trying new low fat vegan recipes.  One of my favorite cookbook authors is Isa Chandra Moskowitz.  I just made her Macaroni and Trees recipe.  I love her creative writing and sense of humor as well as her recipes!  Try saying, "macaroni and trees" out-loud - then you really get the effect!  Anyway, this easy and creamy recipe was a great afternoon snack for me and my family.  As the day got cool, we enjoyed a nice small bowl of this warming comfort food.

Ok, I'm Screaming Health Awareness!

I just stopped into my local grocery store and heard the announcement over the PA system, that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and with that, the recorded voice suggested a variety of proceeded foods and artificial sweeteners to add to the shopping cart of the listeners. I cannot emphasize enough, that when you focus your awareness on something, more of that "something" will show up in your life.  Please, join me in making October Health Awareness Month.  You are so powerful.  Harness the power of your thoughts and emotions for the good of all!

Parenting Wisdom You Can’t Live Without

When you are feeling stressed, and your kids are pushing your buttons, rather than re-act, make a choice to re-spond!
Responding is within your power.  Remember to zip your lips, breathe, shift your body weight, pause, tune in – and respond.
You hold the key to your vibrant success!

The parenting wisdom you can’t live without lies in your ability to  regain your sense of calm and respond.  You have the answers – just create the emotional space to access them.  Unlock them!

Health Awareness Month

There is much chatter about October being Cancer Awareness month.

From my perspective, what you think about, you bring about.

So why raise your awareness to cancer?  Choose to focus your awareness on your health and vitality, and take actions to support your wellness and your healing?

Here are my tips, as I learned from one of my instructors at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition:

Eat these foods Daily:
Greens
Onions
Mushrooms
Beans
Berries
and
Seeds

Dr. Joel Fuhrman has compiled this list of simple foods that will actually restore your body on a cellular level, as well as bolster it against dis-ease.  These foods are readily available in your grocery store, simple to prepare and inexpensive.  The price of medical care is HUGE, the price of wellness is very SMALL.

Ready to Launch into the New School Year?

Back-to-School-Launch for Parents:

  • ·         Wake up 5 minutes earlier and visualize your day, from beginning to end, unfolding exactly as you would like it to
  • ·         Choose a touch-stone and place it in your pocket or in a place that you will see it often.  When you see it or touch it, use this as an opportunity to ground yourself in the present moment.  Stop your mind from crazy-multi-tasking and focus in on the matter at hand
  • ·         Practice 10 deep slow breaths counting 4 seconds in, 8 seconds hold and 8 seconds out. You can do this exercise watching TV, walking the dog, or showering.  Breathing in this manner will release both toxins and stress that have accumulated in your body
  • ·         Master the Pause.  When your child is speaking with you, pause what you are “doing” and BE with them with your full attention.  When your hot buttons are pushed by your kids, pause and remain silent until you can reclaim your calm.

Pro-Crastinating

I've been procrastinating something, like a Pro!  I love dissecting words and discovering their hidden meanings.

Here's what I've been pro-crastinating.  Everything technological!  Being a holistic parent, my focus is on my awareness (what I think about, I bring about).  Harmony and wellness in my own family are high on my priority list.  Nurturing my precious clients and being a clear conduit to support their transformation is my professional purpose.
Updating my website, blogging, keeping up with linked-in...I'm a pro at procrastinating.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
